STORY
Every metal player needs to own an 8-string guitar at some point. Not only is it a great opportunity for experimentation (hitting those fat 0-0-0 riffs), but it is also a break from your usual 6 or 7 string riffage (0-0-0 riffs but just higher).
All jokes aside, playing an 8 string definitely improved my playing quite a bit. The wider neck forces you to think about your hand positions in a different way than what you’re used to, even though I had been playing my trusty Ibanez RG7 for 8 years already. Combining this with the multiscale and asymmetrically shaped Strandberg-unique neck, I found a completely new style of playing, allowing for unique chords and voicings you cannot get out of lesser-stringed guitars.
